Pinging caused a lot of trouble to the Glitch servers including continuous downtime. It was for this reason that pinging was banned. Removing the ban on pinging might bring back the downtime waves for Glitch.

Keeping lots of projects online cost a lot of money for glitch, more than it was making. Hosting is not cheap!

If you really wanted to keep your project on forever, you could buy a board computer like Raspberry Pi or an Arduino and run your server from there.
