Happy friday! We’re in a heat wave in the NYC area as well as other parts of the world If you have watched any of the Glitch Jams Live streams, you already know that I regularly remind folks to stay hydrated, and this week was a lesson in taking my own advice - as well as validation in choosing “waves” as this month’s Code Jam prompt. So take a sip and let’s click some links together:
Yesterday we kicked off the Glitch Speaker Series and imho set such a high bar for guests with Dr. Alondra Nelson. To be just a few feet away from her and @anildash talking about AI, the academics who have been doing the work to identify bias as well as opportunities with the technology…it was an honor, and you can watch the replay on our Youtube!
I’m really excited about this Internet Phone Book project, “a physical directory for exploring the vast poetic web.” I think physical books are so special, as is this segment of the web, so to see them together is inspiring.
What are you working on, what are you enjoying, how are you keeping hydrated and cool…sound off below and see you on glitch.com
You know that feeling when you walk into a bathroom after someone has showered, and it feels like you’re walking into a wall of lingering steam but it starts to dissipate because someone opened a door? The outside of my house feels like that, with more heat and without the dissipation. It feels like walking through someone’s hot breath. It feels like I finally made time to go to the sauna, but the sauna is everywhere and I brought my clothes, purse and animals in there too. I hate it.
I occasionally think about making a certain math game but then getting stuck on the difficulty tuning.
otherwise I just keep rebuilding nix packages. maybe someday I’ll play around with giving that project its own name as a software distribution, something fish related
