See ^^^^??? Almost everything is offered for free or a discount.
I’m not saying Glitch should offer it absolutely for free, an offer might be nice or free for 1 year or 6 months…
Basically, if Glitch decides to partner with GitHub Education, they’ll be giving away their service for free to the students, this is Good PR for Glitch. GitHub Education makes sure that the “student” is actually a student. However, Glitch can decide how the student uses their services, for instance if they’ll only allow one boosted project, or two boosted projects.
Glitch will still remain in full control depending on the agreement that Glitch and GitHub Education build.
Yes, maybe they could have a third plan exclusively for students with more features than the free plan and equal/less features than the paid plan.
i totally agree with the free glitch pro, i’m just concerned that it might be another weight to Glitch
Here’s an email I sent to Glitch about this where I made clear that they can offer it for free or a discount or free for a certain amount of time, etc.
Not right now, it would work better after all these problems are over.
exactly, first things first
Yes @khalby786. They could do this without GitHub, however, doing it with GitHub means they don’t have to manage the overhead of moderating requests/checking if they are actually a student
And GitHub Student Pack asks for real verification if you’re a student or not, so fake student accounts and spam won’t be a problem.
Glitch being on Github would not only give Glitch great PR like @ihack2712 said, but it will also give them tons of free advertising.
it isn’t, it is helping students get a head start into the world of development. No money is sent or taken
It can agree with @ItsYanko because while glitch is not giving money to students, you guys have to understand that a subscription with Glitch costs money for a reason.
i know. I’m just saying that if it’s a paid feature, then it costs more money to Glitch (i guess)
Yeah, kind of. But then a separate paid plan with moderate features might work just fine.
fair point, maybe this could be a premium account but not completely premium, like some features can be left out
That’s great, but Glitch isn’t in a rush to get more free users right now (outages, …)
I just have to hope that the money made from advertising on GitHub is able to pay off, if this is used.
Haha, nobody is expecting this to be done right now, it is better to make it a reality once the current downtime and problems are over.
Maybe only projects stay online, but you don’t get extra space (or whatever you get). I think the main feature of boosted I would want would be to keep apps online 24/7
