How We're Making Glitch More Reliable

Hi friends!

We want to acknowledge the recent service issues and let you know how we’re working to make Glitch more reliable. You can read our statement here: https://glitch.com/glimmer/post/how-were-making-glitch-more-reliable

Thanks for your patience and your support!

Glitch is still very good even after the recent service issues that happened. Glitch is easy hosting for websites and we definitely would not want to lose that service.

These outages are definitely annoying, but I fully support Glitch in their work to provide great hosting for the development community. Keep up the good work Glitch :+1:

I really appreciate that you’ve posted this.

The article says:

You definitely don’t need to ping more than once every 10 minutes or so — more than that just adds load to the system but doesn’t make any difference for your app.

But the technical restrictions page Glitch: The friendly community where everyone builds the web says:

Apps sleep after 5 minutes if they are not used, and those running for more than 12 hours are stopped.

which would mean there would be a difference between pinging every 5 minutes and pinging every 10 minutes. At 10 minutes, the project would have been stopped for 5 minutes already.

It’s a separate issue if you’re telling free users they’re limited to 50% uptime (although I personally think that’s not what the post is intended to do). But as it’s written, it’s inconsistent.

update: the post was corrected to say 5 minutes

It’s worth mentioning that Glitch is still in a startup phase, and I put a lot of trust into that Glitch will get better by time!

i have just read the statement and i agree with everything! Is there a system in place to scan high ping projects for malicious code?

We do have checks in place, and we fine tune this as needed. Thanks for asking!
