hello i’m Kumi, and i come from snap(berkeley).I’m so surprised that Uncategorized exist on these forums, because i thought almost every forum removed these!
@CarlyRaeJepsenStan thanks for that!i plan to learn multiple coding languages since i’m multilingual, meaning id be able to code in multiple languages(which could be useful in the long run)
Yeah, it’s for off-topic stuff and actually 90/100 don’t remove this category btw
Forum admins have the option to change/edit categories in the forum, but it’s just used for topics that don’t really relate to Glitch.
think you both for telling me,i’m just glad to even see this topic exist again
Can you tell me the dos and don’ts of these forums please?
You can read this page for more info about the forum guidelines: https://support.glitch.com/faq.
okay thanks for the help!
No problem, your welcome!
And welcome to the forum!
Cussing is not allowed
But if some guy manages it to sneak it in in a really long message that really informational, then hey, don’t flag it, just tell them to edit it
No offense to the Snap forum, but the forum seems to be like an informal Discord server, where everyone curses at their will and there’s no proper moderation.
We believe that the overwhelming majority of our users are teenagers or adults, and so we aim for a PG-13 level of moderation. This means, for example, that Snap ! versions of T-rated (“Teen”) video games can be discussed. By popular demand, we are now prohibiting swear words throughout the site, including the forum. (What you do in unshared projects is your own business.) We do not, at this time, use software filters for moderation; decisions are made by human moderators.
Do they even moderate at all?
It may get stricter (a big banner says so), but I’ve already seen enough to convince me that it really needs more improving, and right now it looks like a Discourse forum where anyone can talk, argue, go off-topic, swear and do pretty much everything else you’re not supposed to be doing on a forum, especially one meant for “civilized discussions”, which ironically, is also the motto of Discourse.
I’ve just seen a post where a user swears and the mods are like “I’m gonna pretend I didn’t see that.”
The Snap ! Forum is for discussion of Snap ! (including requests for help, bug reports, tutorials, feature requests, and extensions), discussion of computer science (and related sciences), and discussion of teaching Snap! and computer science (including the BJC and TEALS curricula and the SAP MOOCs).
You realise that you have coppa and kids are pretty much brainwashed AND even then there is kids who want to make a feature (any maybe make an addon) but can’t since there is no category for it
We understand that adolescents and teenagers need a place to socialize; there’s nothing wrong with that. But we can’t be that place; we can’t afford the level of moderation staff such a forum requires.
You are that place. I’m gonna post this on there, because it doesn’t belong here.
hahaha, exactly, Im a snap user but im only on there bc scratch banned me for no reason -_- and now ima learn javascript on here.
(also, sadly, their moderation is now too strict)
great lol
ima make a game here and post it on gamejolt
(once I learn javascript)
Welcome to the forum! I highly recommend tutorials like javascript.info and W3Schools, and sites like CodeWars to train your skills after you’ve learned. Good luck!
