Please be considerate of others trying to download their projects

It looks like some folks are trying to wget the entirety of Glitch in an effort to “save” it. While we’re not going to stop you from doing so, please be aware that what you’re actually doing is fully saturating whatever infrastructure we still have left, making it damn near impossible for normal users to get their projects.

You’re making the experience so much worse for everyone else, please take a moment to consider rate limiting your efforts, because all you’re doing right now is making a painful situation worse by preventing others from getting their data.

Not cool, folks. Not cool.

In an effort to make sure people can still download their projects, I’ve put some “randomly fail to load a project” in place, because it looks like whoever (or whoevers) is doing this is by incredibly stupidly loading thousands of projects per minute in the editor (what the hell were you thinking?) so that at least the infrastructure has capacity for legit normal users looking to load their projects (even though you can of course download your project without the editor throughout 2025. I understand wanting to get it done before the 8th, but you don’t have to, we’re going to keep letting you download both your code, and your assets, until the end of Dec. 31st 2025).

“Well how bad could it be?” I hear you ask. How does running so many projects that our infrastructure is 100% saturated sound, leaving nothing to handle legitimate user requests? You can see why this is not making me very happy.

Think about what you’re doing please, if you thought July 8 was too soon, you’re literally making it “right now” for everyone else with this =(
