πŸŽπŸ‘Ύ Testing bots in the support boards

Hi - your friendly neighborhood Glitch Community Engineer here!

It seems like some users may be testing bots here on support.glitch.com. While we love what we are seeing with regards to experimentation and bot making on Glitch, we do kindly ask that you do not test them here - they can be quite disruptive to the rest of the community.

If you need help figuring out how to create your own Discourse account to test your bots, I’d be super happy to help!

@jenn Oh, Sure. Can you help me out with creating a bot account? Cheers!

To create a Discourse account, see their pricing page here: https://www.discourse.org/pricing which as of today includes a free trial. You can also install your own instance from their Github repo: https://github.com/discourse/discourse/blob/master/docs/INSTALL.md

@jenn Would I be able to host it on Glitch?

it may be possible - although I think the discourse repo just about hits our disk space limit, leaving very little if any room for data (like users, posts, etc). it’s also powered by ruby, which is not a technology we have tested support on. if you try and manage to get it running, it would be a great thing to post in our β€œthe gallery” section of the forum!

Ok! Will do! Thank you for info!

In the past before I got my own vps for my discourse site maniabots.xyz, I had tried to use glitch for discourse but discourse requires a minimum of 1GB of ram, and glitch only allows users maximum of 512MB ram, in future when paid plans are introduced, then it may be possible!
