What does rewind actually do, and is it reversible?

I have some students who, perhaps mistakenly, rewound their project and lost a lot of work. Is there some way to un-rewind, say to where they were yesterday? It seems like the git repo should still remember the versions between the one they had yesterday and the week-old version they rewound to? What is “rewind” in cli git?

Hey Nina,
It is indeed possible to rewind the rewind, just set the rewind time to right before the previous rewind took place.
