I’m working real hard to pick up my development game and have stumbled upon yarnjs a packaging framework based upon nodejs and npm. I’m still wrapping my mind around the total impact of the tooling but it essentially manages your dependencies in a predictable and safe fashion – which makes our code stronger, and more aware of emergent risks caused by dependency drifts.
It also has a benefit to the enterprise as it makes packaging globally consistent at a minimum of expense. It does this with some pretty slick innovations to link modules in elaborate structures eliminating duplications. This provides a “thumbprint” of a particular version which makes provenance easy to manage.
Provide more for less – if you’re not talking about this tech for the next 20 years I may well eat my hat
Quite a tool, take a look.
