Today, we are excited to share with you the latest from the Glitch lab: Glitch In Bio.
It’s unlike any other Glitch launch we’ve done before—we built a mobile-friendly, free, fully customizable landing page to use as your “Link in bio.” Learn more about it in our announcement on the blog to get started and see how you can share your own themes and extensions with the community!
Nice, this was a good idea! I see a lot of folks using Link Tree and this is more customizable. I often point people to my portfolio site but sometimes I just want something simpler.
Also, on that playlist: Alex’s background images…wow. I need to work on mine I like the gradient though.
This is awesome! I’m setting up my Glitch-in-Bio now and this is dope!
However, as a musician, my main places I’m trying to drive folks to are Bandcamp & Soundcloud. I noticed that you don’t have social iconography for either of those sites available. Is this the best place to request those? Thanks!
Hey welcome to the forum. I think it’s a good idea to request them. But for now if you wanted to add them to your page, Font Awesome does have those icons. Here’s soundcloud and Bandcamp. You can search for others. You don’t have to email them for a kit (they make it complex to try to get you to pay, which is annoying). Here’s a link to their CDN -
So, I just put up my , and I’ve kept track of a few small tweaks that might be interesting. Added a couple of social icons that are useful to me, made a custom theme, embedded a Twitter timeline, etc.
Nice work, friends: super easy to customize! looking forward to seeing what others build, too!
I’ve noticed my Glitch In Bio going to sleep, which is quite disappointing because with little mobile links, it needs to be quick to load. I didn’t realize that static web pages would also be subject to the subscription fee to keep them live. I know you guys need to make money but it wasn’t disclosed that this would need a subscription to keep the pages up =\
The live side of a Glitch In Bio app should not go to sleep; regardless of if you subscribe to Glitch Pro. When you have a moment, can you please send us a support request so we can investigate this issue for you?
Just closing the loop here. Turns out if you’re editing your site, it will sometimes show the “waking up” message if you view it before its fully saved I guess. The message as written made it seem like the whole project had gone to sleep.
New social icons including Cohost,Tumblr, and more from community contributors
Social sections are now alphabetically ordered (that list is getting long lol)
Added step in README showing how to make your links verified for sharing on social media sites (tldr add rel="me" to the anchor tag in layout/social.html)
Would there be any chance for glitch to support this outside of their official projects, like allow linking files in the README.md of the files? Of course letting a user control a banner in the editor might be dangerous since it could be used for social engineer e.g. "Your glitch account has been compromised, click here to reset password. "
But generally this would make READMEs a bit nicer to use
