New video: Point a domain at your Glitch site using Fastly

As you may know, we’ve been working on ways to use Fastly to help you level-up your Glitch websites.

We have a new video walkthrough of setting up a custom domain for your site:

It takes you through:

  • Setting up a Fastly service and attaching the domain
  • Creating a free TLS certificate for your domain
  • Updating your DNS records to send your website traffic through Fastly

As well as giving you the ability to use a custom domain for your Glitch website, the Fastly service comes with a few extras for free:

  • Caching – making the site faster and more reliable, and reducing the likelihood of your site getting rate limited if (make that when) it goes viral :star_struck:
  • Security – including DDoS protection :closed_lock_with_key:
  • Observability – letting you keep track of site traffic in the Fastly control panel :chart_with_upwards_trend:

DNS settings are notoriously unpredictable so if you try this and find the experience different please share in the thread! :mega:

Thanks for the great tutorial! I’ve followed the steps to put one of my projects on a domain, but when I visit it I’m greeted with this instead:

Requested host does not match any Subject Alternative Names (SANs) on TLS certificate [bf39ac68b15fb36d2609308df91668a4020c6f1f52d306c61ee79fcbde35594a] in use with this connection.

Visit https://docs.fastly.com/en/guides/common-400-errors#error-421-misdirected-request for more information.

I think I’ll try from scratch once again!

Hmmm I think I’d check that the “Common name” on your TLS certificate is the same as the domain you’ve added to the service (the same subdomain etc)?
