Probably because we love Glitch and know that there’s no point even thinking about repl.it because Glitch is so much better… duh
But I agree with you there - it’s a bit unfair.
The env code storing thing might be possible but not allowed on Glitch (it might come under obfuscation of code section in the ToS)
Would removing .git reset rewind basically too?
edit: ofc yes
Yeah but what if you want to rewrind to a previous version of your app because you messed something up badly? Well if you delete the .git folder, you remove the secrets and previous version of the code.
Well then that sucks because you already deleted it
yeah, so anyone who exposed a secret, don’t delete the folder unless you really need too.
the day I was gone something major happens,
I feel like this will cause users to stockpile private projects, and possibly sell accounts with a ton of private projects
So people are gonna make money by privating a bunch of hello-website projects and deleting all files
Just wanna say this, if this is actually possible from a financial standpoint: Allow people to code-private projects like they used to, but leave whatever additional privating to the paid tier.
If that doesn’t suffice: then maybe allow people to donate or buy merch instead of forcing paid things down people’s throats?
There aren’t any better alternatives to glitch and hosting from a self-made SSH/VM is not something most people have the power, nor the money to do.
Though, I don’t expect that any of this will deter any of the Glitch corporate to do anything regarding this whole thing.
Also, my only hope is that I won’t be banned for saying this.
You won’t get banned, there have been people screaming in all caps about their opinion on pinging before here so most you’ll be fine stating your idea
We appreciate the feedback and wouldn’t ban you for this post!
You forgot gitpod
Gitpod is out of the question.
why is gitpod out of question?
hard to use, no url, takes way too long, practically impossible to save
yeah lemme go through the list.
it isn’t hard to use, it’s vscode in a tab.
Does have a url, extremely long subdomains.
ctrl+s or turn on autosave.
Nothing wrong about gitpod, its just for more advanced users who don’t want a VPS or server yet.
You can’t put things “out of the question” because it’s “hard to use”
fine it’s in the question so @anish please update the post
My issue with this is that Glitch is marketed as a place to test out code before it is ready for the public, but removing private projects defeats the purpose. I don’t want unfinished code that could be exploited public before its ready. I think 3 private projects is a good idea, because you can make other projects private when a project is done. Im sorry if someone already wrote this I haven’t been able to read all the 40+ new posts yet
